The Strategic Planning & Delivery team plays a central role in supporting the FRC’s business planning in addition to providing an enterprise PMO function providing project, programme and portfolio management services across the business. The Projects Analyst
Strategic Planning & Budgeting
The post‑holder will support the effective delivery of the annual Plan & Budget by:
- Providing project support and coordination to the Strategic Delivery Manager, to maintain an effective delivery process for the organizational business plan. This will involve sourcing and validating cross‑FRC inputs, ensuring clarity, consistency and alignment to strategic objectives, working with divisional leads to achieve high quality divisional business plans.
- Supporting the preparation of analysis, briefing material and options for audiences including the Head of SPD, Director of Finance, Planning & Delivery, COO, CEO and senior governance groups.
- Directly briefing the Head of SPD and other decision-makers
- Organising meetings, booking rooms and from time to time booking transport
PMO
- Supporting the effective organisation and operation of the Portfolio Review Board (PRB), including compiling papers, producing minutes, timely and clear communication with project leads and coordinating briefing for the PRB Chair
- Organising engaging communications with the FRC’s community of c.60 project managers, enabling learning and knowledge-sharing across teams.
- Preparing portfolio management information (reports, data and dashboards) to agreed standards
- Maintaining and developing project management tools, templates and guidance and helping to monitor their application by project teams
- Taking day-to-day responsibility for discrete improvement work packages or small projects, working under own initiative to increase our project management maturity in a specific area. This may involve mapping and documenting processes.
- Measuring benefits of PMO activities and collecting data to inform changes or new developments.
- Supporting and contributing to events and training sessions, preparing or updating materials and
- Contributing as required to the smooth running of SPD and where relevant wider Finance, Planning & Operations team.
The Person:
Essential
- Knowledge and experience of project, programme or portfolio management
- Strong written and verbal communication, including creating briefings for senior audiences.
- Strong analytical skills, including synthesising inputs across multiple teams.
- Ability to build deeper technical knowledge of relevant processes and procedures, working towards full responsibility.
- Ability to build strong and effective relationships with stakeholders
- Excellent organisational skills, including event management and facilitation.
- Communicate ideas confidently and suggest improvements to processes.
- Ability to work under own initiative to identify issues and problems and generate possible solutions or recommendations.
- High standard of written communication skills, to produce committee minutes, clear and concise reports, documentation and other correspondence to a range of audiences.
- High level of proficiency in IT systems, particularly Excel, MS SharePoint and the Microsoft Office Suite
- Managing progress trackers to monitor schedule and actions
- Strong attention to detail both in completing tasks and in quality assuring the work of peers and project team members.
- Commitment, drive, and enthusiasm to support others to deliver through project management and improve standards

Desirable
- Qualification(s) in Project management (or Programme / PMO).
- Use of e.g. MS Teams Planner, or similar board-based planning tools
- Experience of working with or within a regulator.
- Data visualisation, business analysis or process design.

The role is based in our central Birmingham office. The post holder should be able to work flexibly to support the team’s activities and also provide cover within the FRC as necessary. The FRC operates a hybrid working arrangement with its workforce. The FRC operates a hybrid working arrangement, with a expectation that 40% of a person's working time will be located at one of our offices per week, with precise arrangements to be agreed between the employee and the line manager.
